Behind the Scents August: The "Why" Behind Bar Soap Cost Updates

This comment is what I hear the most at events, and they aren't wrong but they don't exactly know why. If you're following our newsletter, then you know that our bar soap cost is about to be updated. Why? See what we emailed to our amazing and highly supportive customers below:

The time has finally come to update the price of our high quality, five star rated bar soap. These updates will be effective September 1st, 2026:

Boxed Bar Soap -
Current Price: $8.00
Price Effective September 1: $9.00

Bulk Bar Soap - 
Current Price: $7.00
Price Effective September 1: $8.50

This decision reflects rising costs since 2016, the last time we updated the cost of our core product. It supports our ever growing commitment to creating high quality products right here in the U.S., offering fair wages, time off, and health insurance. Transparency is key for me, my team, and my company, and we will always continue to bring you all the best products to market that we can.

If you currently have an open cart or were planning to get an order in soon, please take advantage of the current pricing through the end of month, ending August 31st.

Exciting things to come: September is going to be a blow out of a month! We'll be re-releasing a crowd favorite for fall, and launching a line update that you all will be excited about. For those who are able to attend Renegade Craft Fair coming this September, you may also see a test product in the works....👀

There's a lot more on the way, and a lot to be excited about. Thank you for your continued support, and I can't wait to show you what's next!

And so the time has come. 

There is a reason why our customers keep coming back time and time again, and it's certainly not because of blind cost increases. We source the highest quality ingredients that we can get. We do not run away from essential oils and raw material variety, and I personally make sure to source the most sustainable oils that I can over other essential oils that are not as renewable or are being over sourced and are now harder to produce. You know why you see the same types of scents elsewhere? it's because it's cheap and easy to pour a single scent out of a bottle and call it your own. What we do takes time, effort, great sourcing partners and an extreme amount of testing to make sure it's right.

I take extreme pride in what I do here at Soap Distillery, and if I can't create the unique indie scents we've been known for since 2012, then, well, we shouldn't be Soap Distillery. Ya know what I mean? 

So, if you're about ready to place an order and want to save a few bucks, get it in before September 1st. If you do, maybe add an accessory to improve your bathing experience 🩵. And get ready, because while I am extremely behind schedule (LOL - DON'T COME FOR ME, IT'S BEEN A LONG SUMMER), I have quite the September and October planned for y'all as a couple things are returning, some things are expanding, and new newness is right around the corner :) This fall and holiday are gonna be so cool!
